SchweißPlaner (WeldingPlanner)

Rapid prediction and minimisation of welding distortions.

INPRO INPRO WeldingPlanner

Thermal welding continues to be the most important joining technology for vehicle production. A problem remains, however, with welding distortions. Due to local heat impacts, thermally induced tensions may be caused, which can lead to undesirable form discrepancies of the welded components. Minimising these detrimental effects has required a time-consuming series of tests up to now. Software solutions for simulation support barely fulfilled the requirements for real-world use.

By working closely with users in the shareholder companies and simulation experts at INPRO, it became possible to develop new software, which meets new standards in welding simulation in regards to user friendliness and computing time. Using a simulation programme, actual components could be used to demonstrate forecasts of welding distortions quickly and accurately. By simulating different positions for holding equipment and different welding series, efficient minimisation of welding distortion was achieved.

The French ESI Group has provided global service and support of the resulting "WeldPlanner" since 2008. As part of the close partnership between ESI, INPRO and shareholders, additional user-oriented enhancement of these simulation solutions is being continually driven forward.
