In the planning and control of production plants, energy efficiency has been increasingly in focus for several years. Digital factory tools enable production planning and factory design to be carefully coordinated with all corporate processes. In this context, it is desirable to also optimize the energy efficiency of the production systems and to expand the tools of the digital factory accordingly. The aim is to evaluate planning alternatives in terms of energy and to identify potential for improving energy efficiency.

Between 2010 and 2015, inpro developed functions that can be integrated into existing simulation programs and enable early statements on energy consumption. For use in the Siemens software “Plant Simulation”, the standardized model library “VDA Automotive Bausteinkasten (Modul Powertrain)” was further developed in such a way that energy efficiency-oriented planning is now possible.

inpro also developed tools for energy data visualization and analysis in production plant operation. This supports operational energy management and facilitates the quantitative evaluation of the effect of efficiency measures and the verification of the achievement of reduction targets.
