In 2021, Catena-X was founded as a European industrial consortium to establish an open data space for the automotive industry. Companies along the entire value chain jointly developed standards for secure and sovereign data exchange to improve transparency, efficiency, and sustainability throughout the entire product lifecycle. In 2023, the Catena-X data ecosystem went live. At the same time, the first use cases were implemented, including data-based supply chain monitoring. inpro supported Volkswagen AG in testing Catena-X in a real application scenario based on material supply and production at the Transparent Factory in Dresden.
“Through platform-based data exchange via Catena-X, we were able to use real-time data to identify supply chain disruptions at an early stage and significantly reduce their impact on production and material flow.”
